Lickits - impossible to unwrap?!! Or is it just me?!!!

I kow its silly.... but no matter how i attack them, scissors, knife or by hand, it always takes ages and i end up getting little bits of plasic everywhere and lickit all over my clothes etc!!! (please tell me I'm not alone here!!!)

Does anyone know a secret trick for getting them out?!
 
I *think* you're meant to be able to tap it out of the packet (or maybe it's the Terry's Chocolate Orange of the horse world and you have to whack it) but I always just end up cutting myself on the plastic and my scissors. Really should complain to the makers, it's quite dangerous! They are impossible though - I gave up on them! Then again they have too much sugar in anyway for my liking.
 
Nope have tried everything! The bloody things are so badly designed I don't bother anymore. Shame as they make a great treat and my horses used to love having a new one on a Sunday!

I got a tongue twister as the small ones stay in there packaging which makes life soooo much easier but it broke

Yeah I posted on here the other day with my 'quizz question' because I spent ages trying to get into one and ended up with bent scissors and trashed kitchen! Although the pleasure it gives my horse makes it all worth it when he is giddy in his stable with excitement as I try to tie it up and then licks so furiosly that he is dribbling green slobber down his chin and growling as he bites chunks off it!!!! LOL!
 
I use a giant pen knife (think crocodile dundee 'thats not a knife...)

This slices the plastic quite well, but still get covered in likit and invaribly end up with sore fingers!

I do the same, borrow the farmers knife and it slices straight through the plastic but you do have to be careful as it slips quite easily!

Slide a pair of long kitchen scissors down the serrated bits at each side and cut down the serrated lines.

Still a messy and potentially dangerous but the easiest way I have found. At least you can then lick delicious likett flavour off your fingers at the end of the process...
 
Yeap have had the same problem, even tries teeth, don’t it hurts. Used scissors in the end but it wasn’t easy.

Then damm horse went and eat the whole thing in one night, hence I haven’t got another one!
 
i have the same problem with the big ones, they need attacking with a knife. then got a tongue twister, go in in the packet, but then you have to attempt to get packet out, i have to use screwdriver to lever edge in a bit, then plyers down edge to grip and pull out, usually resorting in some sort of self inflicted injury 15mins later!! but horsey loves them!!
 
Hi Guys,

I am so sorry to hear that the packaging is putting off so many of you using Likits. I am the Brand Manager for Likit Products and I can assure you we are working on a solution and it is our top priority to make them easier to open.

In the meantime, I have found that the easiest way to open a Likit is to cut down either side of the Likit with a pair of scissors, open the shell and finally turn upside down and knock on a hard surface, the Likit will then fall down the stick and free from the packaging.

I have to say that I only buy the small ones now....Since my horse bites great chucks out of the large ones, then it all falls apart and it's in his stomach in a matter of minutes!! Now I put the small ones in the side of the ball which slows him down a bit - he can't really bite chunks out of those as easily!
 
It's a good 15 minute job just to get the likit out of the boredom breaker with a combination of hoof pick, knife and scissors and its so frustrating! I'm glad it's not just me that can't fathom it out. The big ones are just as bad. If you could work on making it slightly less lethal that would be great Lindsay! Perhaps wrapping the big ones in a clingfilm type material or cardboard?
 
My OH can get them out in seconds and i still have no idea how

He usually unwraps me 3 at the weekend before he flies off to work to keep my boy going

If i have to tackle them myself, which i avoid like the plague due to numerous cuts and destroyed fingernails.... I cut the tops on either side where the tabs are with scissors as far down as i can and then bang

I agree they are a pain in the backside to open and ive had some really painful cuts from them.

Good to hear the Lickit people are trying to find a better way though!
