Lickle ex-racehorse has an eventful day doing the VWH funride!

Well myself, lickle ex-racehorse and my firend and her horse ventured off to the VWH hunt funride on Sunday. Things didn't start well when lickle ex-racehorse refused to go on the lorry and it took 4 of us and about half an hour before he decided that actually the lorry was no different to the last 5 times he's travelled on it... once on he rested a leg and tucked into his haylage :rolleyes:

Then all was going fine, it's about 30 miles from our yard, then about 5 miles away the clutch started slipping on the lorry! We literally had to stop go into first and crawl up hills at low revs. We EVENTUALLY made it there and decided to get on with the ride (as it was now almost 1 oclock) tacked up and got on and set off. Thankfully pony decided as this was his third ever pony party it was slightly less exciting and actually walked the start.

We jumped a lot of the slightly bigger stuff this time, and the only run-out was at a big wooden spread because my firneds horse hit it and it sort of collapsed in front of us... so i can't really blame him for that. But it didn't put him off and he still spent most the day towing me round everywhere with the occasional choice word from me :O. He jumped lot's of things he's never seen, walls, barrels, hay bales and some big blue hanging thingys. So i am extremely pleased with him.

Once we got back we arranged a trailer to come and collect the horses, cue the biggest rain storm EVER and both us and the ponys getting absolutely drenched then having to wait a further hour and a half for the trailer to arrive. Thankfully he loaded onto the trailer fine and they travelled back great. So at about half 6 we finally got home no worse for our soggy ordeal! Had a great time on the ride itself bar the lack of brakes, but he was very willing to jump and even jumped a few in front this time. Here are a few photos, and the link to the pro ones.

Ive got my 4 year old ex racers first party ina couple of weeks eek!!

Thank you everyone! I'm surprised you like the last one, he looks like he's about to stick his ears up my nose :p although if you zoom in on his face he looks really cute :D
 
One of the reason I couldn't have gone is my Disco needs a new clutch. It's alright towing if you don't have to go up any long hills, but struggles up Stanway on it's own! Must get round to sorting out.
