I am thinking of getting one for the shire x I share. He is on poor grazing as we watch his weight closely, he has two feeds a day of hi fi lite/healthy hooves plus some hi fibre cubes in a treat ball.

I've never really used a field lick but I think he'd like one but as they're full of sugar I'm not sure (he's never had laminitis) xx

What's the main reason for the lick? We use the big Himalayan salt licks in the field which are unmolassed. As you are watching his weight I'd suggest going down that route rather than one with lots of sugar in personally.

Himalayan salt lick, i would NOT advise the horselyx, They melt in the sun and the horses literally drink them! And they get it all over their faces too, and they're full of sugar.

I use one made by a local company which is specifically designed for the balance of nutrients we have in our corner of the UK, it's worth checking that out as some soils are much more lacking in some nutrients than others.

Otherwise, just go for a salt lick,

TBH our two just use event the molassed one occasionally whereas if it was in the stable they would eat it overnight. Maybe grass is just more interesting!
