Lidl Horse stuff - those who wanted numnahs

Absolutely not I'm the cheapest git you'll find but one size fits all for boots - c'mon!!

Beside I pay a tenner for shires numnahs which do fine & as for that grooming kit....I'm saying nothing

It does state on the packaging that the rugs are measured along the back, not from the chest. We have bought loads of stuff from the Lidl sales, and it has all been excellent quality. There will always be those that prefer to pay more as it makes them feel better, but I am happy to get good quality items for less money.

Ooh thanks for the reminder. going to pop in on my way home tonight

It most certainly isn't crap as we have been uing it since they first started selling it!
The numnahs wash like a dream and although we wouldn't compete in them due to the tartan binding, they fit well and stand mucky horses.
Their gloves are the best we have ever found, we bought six pairs and four are still brand new because the others wear so well.
The bandages have been used daily for schooling and again still look like new.
The rug was a strange fastening, but on a busy yard it's been well used for cooling.
I use Lidl a lot.
They have excellent cold meats, salad stuff etc and things like Heinz soups are half the price of elsewhere. It also makes me not do a massive spend like I tend to do in tesco!
The best thing about the place are the centre aisles, we've had the most incredible bargains, last week I bought a fire safe for under twenty pounds, on ebay they are more than that plus postage...
I ge really p***d off with people thinking "named" stuff is always better quality.
A lot of the time it's the same but with a retailer's name added during manufacture.
I would say don't knock it unless you've tried it...

Well said Hh.
I was talking to a woman selling rugs on Beeston market once, and these rugs had her own company name on, and were half the price of comparable rugs.
She told me that they were made to the same specification, and at the same factory as, a very well known rug company, and that the only difference in the rugs was the price, because of the mark-up the well known firms put on their products.
I actually compared the rug I bought off her to the branded one that my friend had bought, and they were identical.
If people insist on looking down their noses at unbranded horse products, then more fool them.

See now I was warned in advance about the sizes - the ones I got are a 6'3"-6'6" size. Got 3 fly nets and a fleece - and they are fab! I've never known a fleece wick water off a horses coat as fast - and for a tenner!

Got some sweat scrapers last time too, and a bucket. Nothing wrong with any of them at all, the quality is fineand much cheaper than a saddlery.

Its just because we usually get overcharged - think horse and add 50% to the price! (Put it this way, I can buy a stitch unpicker for 50p in an ordinary shop that sells sewing stuff, yet they are about £2 in a saddlery!)

I think I may be needing a wander back over there see whats in this time.

I think my mum has headed there today. My horse destroys everything no matter what the quality is so I'm not too worried about that, but i'm not sure if she's realise about the rug sizes, better give her a ring!

they had no grooming kits, jodphurs, gloves, boots or anything we wanted, and they only had the rugs in one size. Apparently it was very disappointing and all the colours were awful anyway

You mean to say they had none of the things you wanted and only the stuff they wanted to get shot of.....well I never!!! If you ever wonder why tack shops go bust....look no further. I understand the need ot look for bargains but Robinsons pretty much match or beat prices in their sale and I'll not be travelling 15 miles to my nearest Lidl's to save a quid on a pair of gloves.

My daughter has just been and had a look in Lidls, she bought a lead rope!!! The rugs are no good for our 12.2 pony, too big, she said that the headcolars looked ok but had limited colours. Grooming kits as said before are suitable for little hands,my 4 year old grandaughter has one from Aldi last year. It's ok for her but she doesn't do a great lot of grooming. I have finished up buying brushes that are better for me - from the Tack Shop!!!

So saying, I wouldn't knock their stuff as we have had some real bargains from there. Foodstuffs are generally good quality especially the cooked meats.

Just before Christmas I bought three headcollars and three leadropes from Netto as they were making room for the Christmas stuff, I got the lead ropes for 39p each and the headcollars for 41p each, I gave them to the Riding School where Kiah has her pony and her lessons. Everything is still going strong so can't fault the quality there.

Troggy got the saddle cloth she wanted (we have never found ones as good a fit anywhere else) and another flat sided bucket. They didn't have the full range but we (well, the horses!) love ths snack biscuits.
