I just keep pondering over this and I wondered what everyone else thought.

Do you believe in rainbow bridge or rather, life after death? In terms of horses - or is it just to make us feel better? I just can't believe that there is nothing out there. I am not particularly religious.

Opinions?

Yes, I do believe in life after death. I also believe in re-incarnation (sp??), we all come back, but not always in the species we left in. My opinion anyway. The only thing Iam not so sure about, is those that can talk to the dead, I think we can have a sixth sense at times, but to actually ''speak'' to the dead is another thing. Its the rainbow bridge for animals, and the golden stairs for humans, just my idea on that too.
Iam not religious either.
FWIW I also believe in ghosts.

Cant wait to meet Charlie at Rainbow Bridge.
It is the only thing that has really helped me after losing him, it really helps me to think of him healthy again and galloping about in a lovely field.

I definitely believe in life after death, there is far too much evidence to suggest otherwise. Again, I dont want a religious debate, but things from my past (which I will NOT discuss), have shown me that life does go on, and we do meet our loved ones again.

I love the Rainbow Bridge poem, and maybe it does exist in some form or another?

Kokopelli - so so sorry to read your thread, if you google it there is a Rainbow Bridge poem just for horses, it may give you a little bit of comfort.

Not in the physical sense no. But in the spiritual sense they live on in our own memories. So I imagine mine that have gone to the bridge to be running round in their fields because that is how I remember them. :) I think it helps us to accept death tbh.

I have only had one horse who was more than this. Why I dont know, but several people knew something was wrong and contacted me. One friend was driving home and suddenly knew she had to come to see me about the horse. Another phoned her mum for my no. because she knew something awful had happened to my horse but didnt know what. It was the day she was PTS.

I believe in it because it gives me comfort to think they are there running wild and free :-)

There are times I am sure they are with me xx

I've copied this from Stephen O Brien's website which sums it up for me:-

"Many owners are distressed when their beloved pets die and are eager to know if their friends survive death. I can happily report that they do. I’ve lost count of the times spirit animals have returned through my mediumship to their beloved masters and mistresses. In most cases they bring a tremendous feeling of warmth and gratitude for the concern and love shown to them when on earth.

When animals have shared a close bond with us they’ve been helped into a greater awareness of their individuality, which in turn assures not only their survival but also their spirit return. Even creatures other than domestic pets live on into eternity.

At a meeting in Yorkshire, England, an elderly spirit miner contacted his niece in the audience with some good news. ‘Uncle Ernie’ asked her, ‘How’s it going, lass?’

‘Tell him I’m fine,’ she called out.

‘Good,’ he replied to me. ‘Eh, you’ll never guess who I’ve got over here wi’ me, lass? Remember old Nellie and Jessie?’

‘Oh, yes!’ exclaimed his niece. ‘They were the two pit-ponies he took care of down the mines.’

‘That’s them,’ he returned. ‘And can you remember, lass: they were down’t pit for so long that when they retired t’surface, they were both blind as bats?’

‘Yes, I do remember,’ she said. ‘He loved those ponies as though they were his own children.’

At this Uncle Ernie beamed and called out joyously to me, ‘Well lass, I still love ’em I do! And what do you think? They can both see now.’

When I looked around the hall nearly everyone’s eyes had misted up."
