shadowboy, two things for you to bear in mind, and from the outset, firstly, correct any form of unacceptable behaviour, not with violence but with an easily understood displeasure, and secondly, consider the words of the wisest of Irish horse breeders; "It's all in the mammy". If the pup comes from a level headed and sane dam, then you stand a fair chance of a replication.
With puppies there's a very fine line when accepting normal puppy behaviour, which can be corrected in time, and allowing a problem to become entrenched. No one needs a doctorate when it comes to gaining the respect of children, and the same's true of dogs.
There are horror stories attached to all breeds of dogs, but the truth is that you mostly only hear of those which go horrendously wrong, and even then, most were avoidable, with a bit of common sense, and that's a quality which it sounds like you have, in abundance!
Enjoy your puppy, and there are those on here who have considerable experience of the breed, and puppies in general, should you ever be in doubt.
I'm sure that you'll be fine!
Alec.
