Can I have a small moan?
Currently working at a yard looking after 20 horses on my own, due to fencing issues they are mainly stable at present. Fencing will be sorted soon but only one paddock to let pairs go out for turnout, there are 7 horses that need riding and numerous other jobs to do! Also have 4 horses of my own to do and am struggling with it all, extra help isn't an option but any Time saving tips please share!

Sorry for pointless ramblings!
Xx

I don't have anything very helpful to say but I can totally understand why you are feeling under pressure!

I suggest you come and work for me! I've repeatedly failed to find anyone who appreciates nice bosses! Instead we've found liars, people who are unreliable, work shy and people who can't follow instructions and want to argue about how to do a yard that I've done for nearly 10 years!

I feel for you OP - that sounds like quite a workload! No helpful suggestions I'm afraid, except to say try to think of the positives - for many people stuck in boring jobs in offices, riding 7 lovely horses a day would be an absolute dream and they would love to swap with you.

can you ride and lead and lunge? saves time and your butt.

maybe put up some electric fencing so you can create three temporary turn out areas at least then they can be out and you may not have so many to ride every day.

It sounds like a ridiculous workload for one person, no wonder you want to moan! No wonder a lot of people don't work with horses for long. I would keep your ears and eyes open for a better job.

I completely agree! 20 horses! It would take me all day to muck them out let alone doing anything else.

I would insist the YO gets some temporary electric fencing and chuck most of them out while the weathers still decent!

Yeah, I think you have a good right to feel under pressure. Things would be a lot easier for you if the YO sorted the fencing, I wouldn't want my horses in if they could be out.

Agreed. Unless you are getting something really good in the deal, look elsewhere. I'm not naive, I've been in similar situations, but it's not good business. At the very least what happens when you inevitably get hurt or sick?

Your employer had to buck up his/her ideas or you need to make a change.
