Anyone have any experiences of Ligament damage- my boy has damaged 5 ligaments in his hind leg- PIP joint medial and lateral, fetlock joint and DIP (coffin) joint ligaments.
We have no idea how injury happened as he was off work at the time due to being on stabilisation meds for RAO
My vets are excellent but say its a really rare injury ..
We are 7 months into box rest at the moment and he is sound at walk (most of the time) unless you flex his lower leg- then we are back to hopping lame again.
He is being walked for 20 mins a day at the moment (sometimes easier said than done!)
Vet says next step is to turn him out (sedated at first) into a small paddock (just having one built)
Anyone had any similar experiences???
I am aware his chances of recovery are slim but I want to do everything I can- If he can just be a field ornament so be it, light hack would be FANTASTIC, any more than that I am not even thinking about .. he is so my perfect pony I just don't want to lose him
He wears magnet boots during the day, back on track boots at night, has a padded rubber floor in his stable and I have put rubber matts on the walls of his stable in case he rolls and knocks his leg onto the wall .. he has cortaflex and msm supplements
Anything else I could do/try .. any similar experience good or bad?
