To look at, a big, black, old fashioned, chunky Section D.

To own, ride and deal with, a 16.2 ID of unknown breeding and possibly crossed with something a bit more cobby or ponyish. That might sound a bit weird but that's exactly what Arch, Charlie and Wiggy all are and in the unlikely event I ever have another, that's what I'd be after.

I've always been adamant that I've never had a type, but I'm sitting here writing this currently owning 2 Appaloosa's and also helping at the Stud Farm where my baby Appy was born, so I'm beginning to think maybe I do have a type! 🤣

To own and ride : I do love Appaloosas. I suffer with a few health conditions and my part bred Appy always adjusts himself to how I'm feeling on the day, I was extremely poorly over the weekend and being the legend he is, he let me practically lean on him the entire walk from field to stable block, protected me from the boisterous youngsters in the field, and then gently nudged me against my rug box so I had somewhere to sit once in the yard - he then put himself away in his stable and stood stock still with his door wide open, waiting for a friend to come and close it. Appaloosas have firmly and completely stolen my heart - don't get me wrong I love all horse breeds and types, but Appaloosas are just something else in my eyes. I love their unwavering loyalty and intelligence - I've been caught out many a time teaching my part bred a few tricks that have backfired....I also love how they don't take any crap and demand the very best from you as a rider and owner, I've improved so much since having my lad and when I pick up a bad habit he will remind me of the rules and it stops pretty sharpish aha! My lad isn't as hardy as your typical Appaloosa as he's a part bred, but my baby Appy is a whole new kettle of fish with the Appaloosa breed and I can't wait to see where things take me. I also adore the various coat colours that they can come in - you never know what you're getting with an Appaloosa in terms of coat - they're such a versatile breed in every sense.

To look at : I absolutely ADORE watching and looking at anything sporty like (TB crosses, Hanoverian's, Warmbloods etc) - I couldn't ride one leg of them, but I'm happy appreciating them from the ground aha!

I’m one of those who have had a range but bay seems to be my preferred colour (easier to clean and a classic colour!). Tend to have geldings. The horse I’d like to ride v the horse I should be riding is a bit of a challenge for me, as I tend to slightly under then slightly over horse myself!

I have 2 in work (rock solid grey ID, and a slightly fizzier Welshx) and 1 pretty and very sweet TBx mare who’s living it up in retirement with Auslander!

I’ve always quite fancied a dun for colour but surely we all want a gorgeous black beauty type?!

I'm a walking dichotomy of loving tall, dark, leggy blood types and also rainbow American stock horses.
A Dark bay or Seal Brown TB/WB with a blaze and white legs would be lovely, as would a Palomino or Dunalino Splash White AQHA or APHA with a bald face and blue eyes. 👀

My type was once a very elegant chestnut arab with white points and a lighter mane and tail by Ahmoun but I have enjoyed among others I have owned an Ardennes mare, a 14.2 arab gelding and now a 13.2 very heavy and hairy pony, as well as a few thoroughbreds, warmbloods, lusitanos and Welsh cobs I have worked with so I do not think I really have a type. Once we learnt to trust each other, I was in love with all of them I am afraid.

This boy is standing at stud close to the yard I’m on. He catches my eye every time we ride past, a lovely looking boy. View attachment 134265
I was mistaken, I took a better look at the one that catches my eye this morning and he doesn’t have socks. I’m also told he’s not a stallion. Pretty boy is still pretty though, even if I have no idea who he is.
