Hi all
I was doing some research on how to build my horses muscle as he is lacking slightly on his neck, back and rump, he is 5 years old and a light weight build. I have been unable to ride him as I have had surgery but now well enough to bring him back into work.

So while I was researching for on the ground exercises I came across another thread by an individual also wanting to help her horse to gain muscle, when a member had mentioned
"It will depend on the horse. Horses that are lightly built will simply not develop a lot of muscle"

And I just wanted to ask is this true? if so why ?? and how can I help improve my horses condition. He has always been the lankly little duckling bless him :)

Ok, I might be the most absolute naive person on the planet but did you see the field for the Grand National? They were muscle bound and not heavyweights. Can't believe that statement is true?

What breed are you talking about?

I once got told that about my lightweight TB from someone supposedly experienced. When I moved her onto a DIY yard, fed her according to my regime and did the correct exercise, she looked amazing.

I have a V. lightweight TB mare, who atm has no muscle due to being out of work since September and now being brought back into work. She's had a nice round rump and a thick neck on her more than once, you just need to feed correctly and work them correctly.
