Hi I downloaded the WeatherBug App yesterday and it worked really well last night during the storms.

It shows lightning detections on a map and how close to you the nearest last strike was. You can see the direction the strikes are moving in.

I found it reasonably reliable.

You can download WeatherBug for Android, iOS and Windows Phone 8. It's free.

Once in the app hit the tab marked spark.

Hope this helps.

BBC Weather following the News mentioned lightning across France. The app showed that and also showed lightning moving across the channel and currently about 35km off the south coast moving closer all the time.... It so easy to get drawn into being nerdy!

Same here. Assuming because no storms in the area?

Are you the developer?

LOL am I the developer? No I wish was I was that clever! I have no commercial or other connection with this app apart from finding it, sticking it my iPad and letting others know about it in case they find it useful. I don't know how much coverage it has. Seems to work down south but I tied putting Edinburgh in and got the same message you got.

I downloaded this app yesterday, and spent a lot of last night watching it during the storm here in Warwickshire, at least I knew when I could go back to sleep. Thanks OP for letting us know about it!
