Can anyone recommend a robust, roomy, but very lightweight fly rug? I have a very broad, 16.2 mare who gets hot at the drop of a hat and is hardly rugged at all because of it (even clipped). The Rambo Protector I have on her at the moment makes her sweat. Anyone have any experience of this and can recommend a non sweat-inducing rug? Must also be generously cut around the front to accommodate her massive chest!

The premier equine super lite one.

But to be honest I only generally put fly rugs on them when the horse flys are out, nothing nicer for them than having naked time at this time of year!

Premier Equine are usually generously sized, so I'll look that one up, thanks.

I agree, spring is usually the one time of the year they can enjoy being naked, but for some reason the flies are already bad where we are. When I bring the horses in they are crawling with the blighters.

This is what I do I try and leave them off when possible but they won't tolerate the horse flies naked thank God it's too early for them.

I have an amigo aussie that I use when its very hot, as mine are clipped short all year and I worry about them burning in intense sun. They dont seem to get hot in it, I think it reflects the heat away

I have the Aussie all rounders too and think they are great rugs, but she sweats under that if it’s hot!

Will keep looking, thanks for the suggestions.

I’ve got Amigo Bugbuster vamoose and they’re relatively cool. The flys came out last weekend up until then they were out naked in the day, they’d go mad now without fly rugs. It fits both of my chunky Warmbloods.
