I’m looking for a short lightweight rain coat.

I love my long mark Todd one but it’s just too hot in summer!

possibly looking at ariat or le mieux stable jacket?

I don’t like rain proof coats always get so sweaty! I have three jack Murphy fleeces that I alternate. They are slightly waterproof and so comfy with deep pockets!

I’m allergic to horses and hay (so helpful  ) so prefer something that will just brush off rather than a fleece stuff will cling to

Honestly I've always just bought what's cheapest from Robinsons or my local tack shop and they've survived me 9 years now with barely a scratch on them.

My local tack shop the cheapest coat is the Ariat or Lemieux. I’ve tried a lot of the cheaper coats and they just don’t last me at all

Ahh I see, sorry I've never owned either brands in rugs but have owned an Ariat human coat which I loved it that helps haha! Didn't pick up much hay or hair either whenever I wore it.

Hope you find something which works, agree it's a good idea to help with allergies.

My antiquated Barbour short jacket must be at least 40 years old and is still waterproof.
No way could I afford one now.
My much younger Horseware jacket is equally waterproof, but no warm. Perhaps that would suit?

Now realising original post was in fact not about rugs and was about human coats, whoops!

My review of my Ariat coat still stands though from this comment - cracking little coat although ventilation wasn't always the best which if you need it for allergy protection in summer might be an issue.

Have a look at Kramer, they do some fab coats and jackets. I've got a lovely short jacket, with a hood. I can't remember what the material is called, but it's certainly water resistant if not waterproof, and stuff doesn't stick to it. It also, unusually for my stuff, always looks clean, which is another bonus!
