has anyone even had a water proof lightweight?

even with re-proofing none of mine are water proof even when i fist got them :/ are there any that are water proof?

*shakes fist* horses weren't in the best moods this morning after a night of rain in soaking wet rugs :o

Lightweight rugs are only designed to be shower-proof. With heavier rain, it usually goes through. A good idea is to put a fleece cooler rug underneath a lightweight turnout rug if heavy rain is expected to help to wick away the water and keep the horse dry.

I put my light weight on through all the heavy showers over night and by the time i get up the yard in the morning its just going through, BUT because its so warm her medium weight will be to hot. I rug her to keep her dry to ride her GRRRRRR. I'm re-proofing mine tomorrow!!!!!

ShowJumping Superstars - does the fleece cooler hold the water and make them wet?

It would depend on how much rain there was I think. If it rained constantly all day and night I think it would do but as they are designed to wick away water, I think they would keep the horse relatively dry. Have never tried it myself, but know somebody who does this so it must work. :)

My lad has a Harlequin LW. I've just had it washed and reproofed and it's kept him dry through some monsoons that we've had lately.

You have a horse that can fit that rug?

Mark Todd LW are amazing- I use it in the middle of winter over night rugs to turn out if i'm feeling lazy!

I have the Mark Todd and an Amigo 1200d light weight rugs. They have never leaked even in in the heaviest of rain.

my amigo lw 600d has only leaked once this summer and that was after we had 12hrs solid heavy rain (wintertype) and wind. They have kept water off at both horses even through v heavy showers and for the entire night.
They also arent getting hot even when its 20degrees!

I have one of my horses in a Premier Equine buster lite and the other in a Rambo lightweight. The Premier Equine has not leaked at all - and we have really had some monsoons up here - she is always dry underneath it. The Rambo on the other hand is a load of rubbish - it might as well not be waterproof for the amount of use that it is....

1200d Amigo LW is very good, the Rhino is a brilliant LW rug and the Bucas Smartex Rain is flipping wonderful but it is warmer than the other two. :)
