What lightweight saddles do you have and love? I find the English saddles very heavy but would love one to make me and my pony happy! Right now I am in a lovely Devoucoux Chiberta D3D saddle but am hacking more now so need something else. Thank you

Weight of saddle is an interesting one. In my opinion there are only two situations where weight of saddle matters.

For some riders they need a lighter saddle to be able t lift it up onto their horse, simple as that. If you can't tack up by yourself, or it hurts or causes excessive wear and tear that is clearly no good.

Next there's the rider who's at 20% of horse weight including tack, and here every lb counts.

Otherwise, as riders many of us can gain and lose more than the difference between a heavy and light saddle, and saving a couple of lbs on a saddle is WAY down the tick box list compared to a good fit. Stick with the good fit and so often that is way better with a proper wooden tree, ie not changeable headplates, or other synthetic or part synthetic saddles either.

But then we talk about close contact saddles, especially French ones...not my preference at all, use the search function to find the last few discussions on close contact saddles

Id stay away from devocoux, they’re lovely saddles but I know so many people who have had real trouble as they are almost impossible to refit.
