I have a 3.5t transit horsebox that needs a bit of renovation.
It is currently made from tongue and groove wood screwed into a steel tubular frame. Some areas are looking a bit tired and I was looking at increasing the payload by replacing the wood with lighter weight (but still safe and strong) material. I was considering 5mm aluminium sheet 1/2 lined with 8mm marine ply. Would this be strong enough and would it offer me any more payload?
I've also been reading about an alloy/foam composite sheet material used on larger (7.5t) horseboxes but wasn't sure if this would be suitable or how much it would cost.
Any ideas?
