I am looking to buy my TB a lightweight rug just to keep the rain off his back as he is now living out 24/7 so I don't really want to pay the earth for one.
Can anyone recommend a decent rug that isn't very expensive?
Cheers

Amigo's are excellent =) mines lasted donkeys years, and is so waterproof even with the torrential rain we've been having! Hasn't rubbed like others either, and good value for money... god i sound like an advert haha sorry =\ x

I second Amigos - I have the Lite (no fill) and the M/W which is 200g - both good

amigo

I've got an Amigo that is a good fit and keeps them dry. Also Robinsons own brand and Decathalon are a great cheap buy and although they seem to always be dodgy colours the few things I've had have lasted well.

I have to say Bucas, had a Mark Todd but found it leaked very quickly as has a friends. The bucas is great cos it reflects the sun if its one of those changeable summer days. Pony has the thicker denier Amigo which so far is fine.

i have just brought my 17hh warmblood an amigo - the one with the neck attachment LW (no filling) love it and the lil pony has the same but with no neck attachment and has lasted forever,

i brought my mare a rhinegold LW (no fill) and its falling to pieces already - so i'd say stear clear - was disappointed with that though because i had a rhinegold HW for my old 148 and it was lovely lasted forever!!!!

another vote for weatherbetas also as my mare had one of these before it drew its last breath!!! lasted years

and the coblet also has one

neither the amigo or the weatherbeta will break the bank

i would say an amigo LW, the higher denier one, not the newest cheapest one
they have been excellent. weatherbeetas in my experience leak in heavyish rain

Thanks everyone.
I did have weatherbeeta ones in mind as I have always loved their rugs but the Amigo's look very nice indeed and obviously have a lot of fans of them on here.
Maybe I should get one of each so I don't have to make such a tough choice

lightweight Amigo for my boy, and it's fantastic. I bought the navy blue heavier denier one, and it leaked so badly I returned it and got a refund. I bought a green plaid Rhino with no fill instead, and have been very pleased with it.

I also bought the 100 gram Weatherbeeta. It leaks like a seive. I returned it, but they sent it back saying there wasn't a problem. Yeah.

Have had the lightweight weatherbeeta and it was completely not waterproof at all. Now have the Shires Typhoon lightweight and its very good. Also have a Bucas Sunshower, which was pricey but excellent.
