I challenge anyone to find me a lightweight turnout upto 70g that has a denier of 1200D that doesn't cost the earth.

So far I have found amigo and premier equine ones but they cost £95 - £120!!

Help if it's possible to find anything cheaper!?!?

Both my no-fill rain sheets, a Weatherbeeta Joules standard neck and a Masta Zing Lightweight, were £30 when I bought, both 1200D.

ETA I'm not brand-fussy as long as the fit is good, and I shop the sales :D

What do the swish ones fit like? Do you find the material nice and strong the same as branded rugs? I do have an axiom which I love so not adverse to unbranded ones but want to make sure they are worth their money!

Thing is: if you wanted to buy (as a human) a waterproof coat that could be used 24/7, be slept on, rolled in, tugged about by creatures with teeth and hooves, out in all weathers and not get uncomfortable or rub you and STILL not let the rain in, wouldn't you pay the kind of money that PE/Horseware etc charge? Plus all the research that goes into it?

Just think how much more material goes into something to cover your horse and then ask yourself if they're expensive...

Too late bought swish and no for a lightweight turnout I wouldn't pay £120 - £160 for it. Sorry! How long to swish normally take to deliver?

Hi I'm a big fan of Swish rugs although mine are all quite new so i can't vouch yet for their longevity. The 6'3" fits my 16.1hh TB really well (he has always fitted 6'3" but this is probably one of the more generous sized ones) - he's not a really lightwieght TB but is retired now so not much muscle. It also fits my friends 15.2hh irish horse who is chunkier and has a big shoulder - the high cut around the neck seems to sit well on him and she's just bought him the 75g with neck cover, after being converted by seeing the rugs on my horses. The 6'6" fits my lightweight 17.hh TB x WB. On all 3 horses the rugs fit really nicely, they are deep cut, high around the neck, with a generous tail flap and nice long neck cover, and don't seem to rub. The material is 1200 denier so good quality. Can't fault them so far to be honest....

Hope that helps!

Me too, love Swish. I tried to force my poor horse into her 100g Swish this evening but felt it was too much for her hot body, won't be long before I can use it though. I'm very jealous that you got the purple one, I want that but 75g and 100g is a bit too close as I already have a 50g too.

Anyone know how generous Swish or PE rugs are, please?

Ditto? Although on there website it says if your horse is inbetween sizes to go down a size so am wondering if i'll get away with a 5'9 (she currently wears 6ft amigos but they aren't overly big on her so ?)

I generally go smaller if horse is in between... It's so hard to say!

I had a Chillton one, about £35. Lasted well although the fittings got a bit rusty. It's about 4 years old now, just getting it reproofed for another winter. It's 1200D.

I want protection, thats why i am rugging, nothing worse than a horse weating a mini skirt, so i never go down i always go up

I'm not saying to go down a size to get a rug that is too small, I was saying if your horse is in between I would go for the smaller as I would say it is more likely to fit correctly. I find rugs that are too big rub and move a lot more than if they are a little small...

That's what I'm debating. My cob is quite comfortable in a 5'9 Amigo. Just wondering if we're better going for the 5'9 or 5'6...

I only buy Swish now. They fit my Section D and cob cross very well. I have the 1200g no fill for both horses and this is the second year they have been in use. My boys treat them very badly and they are still going strong. I also have the medium weight for the really cold weather. The customer service is very good and I am sure if you need any help with sizing they would be able to adivise you.
