Can anybody recommend a really good and not too expensive lightweight turnout rug ( with option for a neck cover) that is Waterproof?

My mare is currently in the lightweight amigo 1200 denier turnout with neck cover but this morning she came in as wet underneath it as she would have been without a rug on!

Admittedly lightweight's aren't supposed to deal with winter or monsoon conditions but there must be some good waterproof one's out there.

weathabeta are good but all light weights are only shower proof so if it rains hard or light rain for hours they will all come through!

I posted in 'normal' New Lounge today regarding l/w turnouts - I have a 600D Amigo that leaks in heavy rain, though it has survived today but may leak tonight.

I think I'm going to buy a Premier Equine Buster Lite T/O which has 40g filling - I'm hoping this wont be too warm and just stop the 'sweating' effect as well as being totally waterproof, anyone use one? They also do a version with a neck that has a 70g filling.

I have the Amigo lightweight and haven't had a poblem, I like Mark Todds but I find they don't fit my boy accross the shoulder...you might find the same if your horse fits the Amigo well. Happy shopping!

I swear by Amigo, never had a leakage

Soooo true even in the heavest rain and very, very cheap - under £30

Another fan here, never had a leakage, fits the two cobs well as rugs usually aren't deep enough, won't buy anything else now.

I would have said the same until I got my 600D red one

Amigo fits my boy like a glove, Mark Todd drops too low on his shoulders.

Going to buy a PE and put it to the test - I need a spare one anyway

I have a Weatherbeeta Landa extra light (or something like that name) it is normal turnout rug material but only has a cotton lining with no filling. So completely waterproof. Has rings for attaching neck cover.

My cob lived in it most of the winter before last as he was unclipped and just needed to stay clean and dry rather than warm. It survived with only one small repairable tear.

I bought a Robinsons light weight turnout when I first got Magic 3 years ago, thinking it would do until I could afford something better, and its still going strong. It outperforms her Amigo lightweight and I think it was around £20 in a sale!

However, I have just bought one of these at Badminton...

Apologies to all pink haters, I just couldn't resist!!

My Mark Todd lightweight wasn't particularly waterproof. My Amigo 600 is decently waterproof, apart from the hole! The best lightweight I've had is my Rambo Supreme - my horse is always dry, but it cost an arm and a leg so that's probably not much use!!
