Looking for recommendations for a 40g/50g turnout rug, at least 1200d which is reasonably priced as it is for a 2 year old who will not fit into it by next spring :)

Am finding it difficult to find one which is more than 600d. Needs to be waterproof and lightweight. Not a fan of 0 fill due to condensation.

Any recommendations? Size is 6'0"

Swish rugs are good. The one I have is several years old and still waterproof.

Also I’ve just bought one off EBay which is 1200d and about £75. Its called Defence x.

if you want a Combo,Mud Rugs look very good too

I have been looking for similar.
Gallop do a 1200D Trojan standard and combo in 50g. About £65 I think.
Shires do a 600g in 50g. About £60.
I have ordered a,Mudrugs 1200D 50g combo with belly cover, £85. will report back ....

Have bought the Gallop Trojan Xtra, 50g, 1200d.
Paid £52.95. Will see how it fares. I also like the fact it has shoulder gussets and easy fastenings. Always handy with a youngster!

We have Gallop rugs, some of which were bought for 2 yr olds and which were replaced as they grew. We have other, more expensive rugs which have been less waterproof.

I am very happy with the Ruggles 50g turnouts, each of the “boys” wore one practically all winter last year and they were always dry and warm in them.

I’ve just bought a Trojan gallop extra for £44 1200D mines a lightweight 0fill but the 50g is £49 which they do. On EQUUS the purple one. the blue one is weatherbeeta 50g 1200D and I got that for £43 from Griggs equestrian

I have shires tempest 50g turnouts a few years old and totally waterproof and they take liners I really like them, they are not expensive either and some weights have the detachable neck set option.

If you want really cheap buy Gallop. Mine was out in a long downpour at the weekend and he stayed dry. The combo has a neck that's actually long enough to cover the neck!
