Ligment problems in horses

Any one got any experience? Ongoing problem nothing works- cortisone jabs in the joint (fetlock) have made him sound for a time, not sure how long. He's never been regularly looked after though ie, he go's lame and gets chucked out til he's sound again then ridden til he's lame and so on....

Can anyone give me any hope?

So far de- nerving suggested- owner not happy with that
or just keep him on a low dose of bute maybe keep up the cortisone, i dont know the cost or implications- if its ok to use long term

Don't bother ... my horse had shock wave treatment - in fact he had nerve blocks, shock wave, xrays etc...etc(£5,000 worth of 'work') he is still the same 5 years later, he is sound *most* of the time but will 'nod' sometimes when on hard ground or on a tight riht hand circle, he is not ready to retire yet, but I do give him an easier life.... we live with it

Best way I can describe it is small electrical pulses - it apparently encourages healing in ligaments. It is used in conjuction with cartophen injections.

I will speak to my vet- he's very honest and wont ever try and do me out of money!

That's what they thought at the time, I have given up now, we have tried everything!

What I wanted to say was the shockwave therapy was useless, it even gave my horse white hairs on his leg where it was done .... and I had to pay for that!
