At some of the nasty replies some of my posts are getting
frown.gif
I reckon I must have said something wrong, if so, I apologise.

And yes, Oscar was in a bad condition when we first saw him. After nearly a week of food and excercise, he's a lot better, but that doesn't take away from the fact that you can see his shoulder blades and withers even when his head is right up, his ribs and hips stick out, he has a wormy tummy, he has the worst mud fever I have ever seen, infected girth galls, gashes all over his legs, an old rash on his back which is healing quickly, perhaps sunburn? Not to mention some really nasty cuts over his joints. Yes, I over-reacted. He's in good condition compared to a lot of horses you get from dealers' yards, but he is not the healthy horse certain people on my first topic made him out to be. I was worked up because I was expecting a sleek ponio from a private home, as we saw him in the paper and the guy on the phone never gave any indication that he was a dealers. So yeah, when you're caught off guard by something like that you are more sensitive towards it. Also, I'm not the only one to feel this way. The ILPH guy said he got two calls a day on average concerning that certain dealer.

I posted about what had happened because I thought you'd be excited like I was. I can understand if you weren't, if you thought I'd made a mistake, but some of the things posted I sincerely hope you wouldn't say to the face of a stranger.

And I really don't think I'm over-reacting to this. Hey, I'm used to b''chyness, our horses are boarded at a yard with 25 owners on it
wink.gif

Also, I don't thwack my neddies, which I gave the impression of in my last post! (I'm really not good at this whole communication thing
crazy.gif
) I wouldn't hit Osky with a smack, I just shoved him in the shoulder because he was pawing and smashing his leg into the wall. The very same leg that he's on izyobutey-thingy to heal. Yeah...

Also, if he does turn out to be a complete maniac, we can afford to have him schooled and rebroken proffesionally. I think I've made the right decision, and I love this forum, and it's members, it's one of the nicest I've ever been on, and these nasty posts people make are really getting me down, and I don't want to quit, but I might, because I'm working myself into a state.

So I'm very sorry guys, for this awfully long ramble, and for whatever I said to offend you in the first place
frown.gif
If there's anything I can do to make it better, please just say so. And I'll draft my stuff before I post
wink.gif
Or just not post about me or my neddies, or something like that
wink.gif
I feel better now, I had to get that off my chest, sorry again.

Sorry Deadpan but you have just handed that guy £2000 to go and deal in more meat horses.

I hope things work out well for you but to be honest i think you have been foolish.

I DO understand, honest, Ive done the same in the past. Its very hard to walk away from places like this. One of the benefits of getting 'old' is that you become a bit more hard hearted.

Everyone has a right to be on here... and everyone has a right to speak their opinions. Please do not take what others say too hard, as no one knows you or your horse, they are just commenting on what they see.

In the pictures you posted I said he did not look too bad, however, as I mentioned, spots can hide a multitude of sins and I did think he looked on the lean side.

You have admitted you over reacted, but many of us would do if they were upset by something they saw, especially when it is a horse. I know I have been close to phoning the ILPH a couple of times when I have walked past a horse in a field, but someone has always talked me around. And I am 24 and should know better

Why don't you take some more pictures of your new boy and show some of the problems you have mentioned. I know you shouldn't have to defend yourself, but sometimes people need photographic evidence as there have been quite a few tall stories on this forum.

I hope he is settling into his new home... he certainly looks happy to be where he is!

please don't be so harsh to her!
ok, it may not have been the right thing to do but i sure want to see how Oscar does now and at least he is safe.
i know if i was in her position i would have thought long and hard about what to do and i can't say i wouldn't have bought him!
chin up hun! and keep letting us know how he's doing!

Just read said post and was shocked - you did not deserve those replies and im damn well ashamed at some of the users on here - rude, mean and unnesecary.
And RHT how about YOU shut up, once again your reply was MEAN, rude and unnecesary.
I mean for god sake people.

Will also add Deadpan i would have done the same as you if i was in the position too, i look forward to hearing ozzys progress and do not apologise for yourself on here because its not you that needs to apologise. I'm going to stop reading this post now, im getting too angry.

I think I missed something too! I read your post but it only had a few replies when I read it so I missed whatevers been said!

You did exactly what I would have done, I would have reported the dealer to the ilph and trading standards and yes I would have probably bought the horse too if I thought they weren't doing anything about it! (I have done this in the past!)

Chin Up! I think you did the right thing buying him!

Thankyou guys, you've cheered me up no end! And yes, I'll take photos of all of his lumps and bumps, just to prove that I'm not being a complete twit
wink.gif
His older scars are quite clean, but his mud fever is actually really horrible! Lets just say that his legs will probably be a much solider colour once it's cleared up. And everyone at the yard is giving me contradicting advice on how to treat it x) Some say lop his feathers off, some say leave them as they give protection... Poor guy, he's happy at the moment though, which makes me happy
smile.gif

I'm just guessing what RHT says from where you guys quote it
wink.gif
But why on earth would I made up a load of stuff about my neddies on a forum? If I wanted to do that, wouldn't I think up a much more impressive story? Such as how I inherited a £100,000 spanish stallion from a rich old eccentric, or how I jumped clear at olympia? And believe me, I could make you believe it, but I'm generally a pretty decent person, and have no incentive to lie on a forum, especially one where I respect the members!

And yes, I do need to become more hard-hearted

I nearly rescued a rat today from the tack room, but the doggie got there before me, which says it all really
crazy.gif
A rat!!!

That's a brave/dumb dog, that is... She bought a hedgehog in the other day... But that's not the point!
crazy.gif

I for one think you have done a wonderful job having rescued this horse, and will look forward to seeing 'regular' progress reports please on here and in the gallery.

As you get to recognise people who post on here, you will respond and get involved with the ones you feel most comfortable with and ignore the obnoxious type who try to put you down.

Stick with the forum. Most people on here are really very nice, full of advice and motivation. It would be a great shame if you were to take certain comments to heart.

Stick with it hun x
