Liiittle bit upset.

I would have done the same thing Deadpan- I admit to being a softy. Think I missed most of the post but Oscar looks lovely in the pics. It would be nice to follow his progress.

Now I dont normally do this but RHT what nasty, small-minded things to say. What gives you the right to judge someone?

-big hugs to all you guys-

I'm just uploading some photos in the gallery, I'll post a link

The ones of Oz are a bit boring, but there's a couple of my sisters on their horses... I rode Solo today, he's mental

And thankyou guys, thankyou so much!!!!!!!!

This sort of this is what really grates me about this forum.

Deadpan, you shoud not be apologizing in the first place, good luck and I hop it all goes well. You will do fine

As for all the childish biatchiness, god grow up you lot. This is a forum and what makes it a forum is other opinions, different ages and points of views. And yeah some people exagerate, but good to them, I seem to have lost that ability since growing older and I am personally quite jealous of them ( no not aiming to ANYONE )

I find being a member of HHO an embarassment at these times. If you dont agree with something, fine mention it but do it nicely or don't say anything at all. And most of all don't pick fights or arguments.

It is a shame but I feel the same as the others on here when they mention about leaving, which is such a loss, as at the end of the day the boatches will all be left by themselves.

Bye

Good on you!!!

I think your original post was a bit harsh as to his condition! I had imagined a complete hatrack, 25 yrs old described as 7 etc!!!

I think with a lot of TLC he will come right. Good luck! You had a five star vetting so you did the right thing and at least you know hes essentially ok physically. With the back up you've got you have a good chance of ending up with a lovely eye catcher. And I dont think hes ugly at all!!!

The only thing I would disagree with is paying the dealer cash as you have absolutely NO comeback!!! Mind you from what you say you'd probably have no comeback anyway!! I would have paid less for cash!!!! So long as he didnt charge you VAT!!!

Go for it girl!!!

I'll go along with that, you did the right thing I look forward to hearing how you progress with bringing him back to standard, good on you. You can't save them all but one's a start

QR.

I think he's fab, and if he stole your heart then so what what others say? he's your horse, so not up to others. good luck and keep us updated!!

He looks like an Appy to me but having a look at the link for Knabstuppers it is very possible that he is one of those, I didn't realise there was another Appy Spot breed
blush.gif

I hope he gets fit and well soon, good luck with him
grin.gif

I have had two horses from the same place and I was just as disgusted as you were when I got there and, if you think Oscar is in a bad way, I'm glad you didn't see the same sight as I did on two occasions!! Let's hope that Oscar now has a good home, as my two have/had. Please keep us posted and Good Luck.

Yep, I really didn't mean to exxagerate as much as I did

I know. I feel really bad about it, and have absolutely no excuse or comeback. My only hope is that some of the people who've PMed me about the yard go ahead with their legal action that they've mentioned, as he sells nutcases to novices as 'bombproof cobs'. It's an accident waiting to happen. I hate so much that I've fueled it, but after hearing that the charities couldn't do anything about it, I just couldn't leave him there. And we're donating £500 to a horsie charity, don't know which one yet, but that's what we knocked off his asking price and it's the least that we can do.

We're going to take it really slowly with Oz. He might never compete, he might never jump, but as long as he's happy, I couldn't care less.

Yor appie is beautiful

I think we've driven past her in a field before? Probably a completely different horse, but are you anywhere near Frome?

Yep, he doesn't look anything like a knabstrup except for his extremely long legs x)

ok, so maybe some people would have done things differently, but you did things your way-and if it means at least one horse gets a loving, caring home then do it!

people shouldn't be so quick to judge others actions, there are reasons-personal or practical that guide people; and as people are different, everyone will do things in their own way.

being down-right nasty on here isn't big or clever. it just shows how small-minded people can be. everyone is entitled to their opinions, but no one is entitled to abuse.

good luck with him deadpan, i for one will look forward to seeing how he progresses
smile.gif

If he wasnt a boy Id offer you free grazing for a few months to get his weight up!

You might have fuelled something but if we all kept quiet nothing would change.

And at the end of the day if it doesnt work out you've given him a chance. Just remember to take advice and help as you need it.

I also look forward to feedback as to how he progresses and as you say if he doesnt compete it doesnt matter. Horses dont need to be competitive its riders that need this element!

So long as you are safe and happy with him.

Deadpan, this thread actually makes me feel quite sad.

You posted not so long ago about this horse and SO many HHOers took the time to offer sympathy, advice, and their views. We read about a bony, seriously neglected horse whose ribs, hips and withers stuck out. It a mess apparently. We all cared.

THEN you posted with pics and ACTUALLY there is no wonder the horse wasn't an ILPH case.

So NOW you post again and apparently all the people who offered help and advice were the nasty ones?
shocked.gif
Sheesh.

The silly thing is Deadpan- I guess ALL the people who voiced concerns are over the moon to hear this horse is well.

It's great news.

What's concerning me is that the one most serious & important piece of advice, from Weezy & to do with worming, does not appear to have been heeded...

If I'd bought a 'neglected' pony from the kind of dealer that has been described, AND it had a bit of a wormy tummy, there is NO WAY that I'd chuck it straight out with other horses to spread its internal pests around.

This is really basic, & tbh Weezy shouldn't have had to have pointed it out...

I know it's all well & good 'rescuing' horses, but not at the expense of their future companions...

Fair point. I might be jumping to conclusions, & hope that I am...

Wouldn't have been enough time for a 5 day course of Panacur Guard though, which'd have been my first choice...

Let's find out. Deadpan, did you worm your new horsie before you turned him out?

I replied to Weezy when she posted on my piccies thread
smile.gif
Didn't see it before.

Yes, people did post advice, and I was really thankful that they cared, but then for every nice post there were three or four nasty ones
wink.gif

I'm off to bed in a minute, just need to make my new siggy. Nightnight all
smile.gif

"Let's find out. Deadpan, did you worm your new horsie before you turned him out?"

Vet wormed and vaccinated him when she did the five star
smile.gif
So he'll have shed most of it by the time he arrived, and he's in the quarantine field, upon the YO's request, but the YO's a farmer and not very horsy, so I'll have to ask him about that.

And as was rightly pointed out she is only A CHILD !!!!

I think some of you are being extreamly mean and nasty..... yes the horse does not look as bad as we all imagined, but for gods sake we should be glad of that surely????

If deadpan wants to put 'photographic proof' on here to prove us all wrong then great, but why should she, although I agree it would shut the doubters up!!

She asked for opinions, got them and then made her decision. Whether she has made a bad decision, or done a good deed is not ours to decide.

Good luck deadpan and dont take the nasty comments to heart.... just enjoy your new horse and you will know if you have done the right thing or not.

BTW one of the ponies at our yard has a horrific scar on her chest/shoulder, which was as a result of neglect, and yet she has turned out to be a little cracker, so they dont have to be nasty beasts to deserve a few cuts etc.

hmm, not all yards and owners use panacur. It isnt the ONLY thing on the market.

well said!

Totally agree!

Deadpan is on a steep learning curve and we should be helping her but she does need to listen and accept some advice. I think she gets too defensive but needs to understand that everyone really wants the best for her and her horse.

-agrees-
smile.gif

And yes, I haven't seen a lot of horses being neglected, and I did sort of work (unpayed child labour, but it was so much fun
wink.gif
) at a run down RS, so my standards aren't That high... I supposed it just came as a shock to see a poor, skinny little lad. But he's home now, and I can relax, and I'm actually glad that my horse hunting is over!

Well, I have trawled through this lot and Deadpan has put her neck on the line in every sense of the word. She stands to lose a great deal if this doesn't work out and has had much criticism for choosing to buy this horse against much advice to walk away.

Call it foolish youthfulness if you wish, but I hope he makes her happier than she already is now she has him home. Hands up everyone who didn't do a single rash act at 15 years of age. Oooooh, not many of you!

To appease the others, get him wormed and pick poos up for a few weeks. I have everything crossed for you both and please don't be afraid to come on and ask for advice. I know I shouldn't add this, but it's nice to see a younsgter with good grammar and spelling and full use of a keyboard! Granny brighteyes.

Looking forward to seeing him progress and really, really hope he repays your kindness.

I know! I just assumed deadpan was way older than 14/15!! My little sis is 15, and as clever as she is, when she's on the internest i cant understand a word she types!!! And i'm only 21!! x
