Harry (4 yo) polishes off a likit in record time me thinks. Usual life span, 10 minutes! He ends up covered in it but will not stop till its all gone. He gets whacked in the face in his persuit of finishing it all in one go but does not care! How long does one last with your horse?

Yup - about 10 mins. Hanging it from the ceiling slowed him down a bit becuase he couldn't pin it against the wall and eat it. But not much!

ooo glad to discover im not alone then...
Ive not stood and watched him eat one... but its definatly gone by the morning...

i leanrt quickly to not buy them too frequently... and now he has to settle for getting cast offs from horses who dont touch them!

He has even polished off one of the huge malasses floor licks in record time... last a month it told me... one night more like!
I arrived the following morning to find... horse, stable , rug, floor walls, water bucket etc all covered in molasses... the lick was gone and the boy was exhasted! up all night me thinks! hehe x

Hanging from the ceiling so he could not pin it down and bite it stopped him completly no interest what so ever unless you hold it for him but if he has to stand and lick it slowly then meh! not interested. Impatient little sod my horse!

my mare's last forever!!!! spending time for such a small amount of food it beneath her, same goes for treat balls she knows how to do it but she doesn't feel it is worth her while.

my boy on the other hand takes a few minutes to eat a likit, if you give him a molasses lick he only eat the RDA

Had one in my mares stable for 3 weeks now, think shes had a bit of a lick of it but really not interested =/ was thinking of giving it away as cant see her going to eat it. Bloody horse - try to entertain her and shes not even interested.

Mazzie's would last forever once she got over her fear of them! Genie munches them very quickly, so she'll have it for a few minutes and then it's taken away again.

I watched him the other day, it took as long as it did to change his rug. git.

That sounds familiar, I;ve never timed it but

Bring horse into stable
Horse finds likit
Owner picks out feet
Likit gone

The little likits worked better but he still found a technique that involved teeth so maybe 10 - 15 minutes.

I don't feed them anymore as I am trying to keep sugar to a minimum so he has a himalayan rock salt one on the likit holder which isn't nearly so attractive.
