Our farm road is pretty horrendous , have been slightly stuck at horses Once so far which isnt bad !! But could maybe do with snow chains , where to get them ??

How do they work ???

We have a big heavy old van for lugging big bales of hay and feed etc upto horses , so maybe snow chains would be an investment .

Err, unfortuanatley I believe they are illegal in the UK. Sorry - we could use some in suffol ktoo ATM, and it's not often I have to say that! If you are on private property then you probably could, but i'd presume you'd have to import them from the US or canada or somewhere.... remind me, when was global WARMING going to kick in?!?!?!

Snow chains need to fit the wheel size of your car. Chains for a car may not fit your van if you dont get the sizing right!
They wrap around the tyre giving grip and more importantly bite into the snow and ice.
We tried a couple of years back to get up into a ski resort in France. Ikkle car slid down the iced/snowed up mountain road.
One set of snow chains later and hey presto. Very under-rated, BUT do not use if there is not sufficient snow, ie if you can see tarmac at all, dont get them out!

Just googled, and Amazon (UK) have them
