My My Pony loves these and I brought him a stable toy that u can put 2 of them in and he licks it and the ball swivels round !!! - He has gone through BOTH the licks ..... But he was happy as it was his 1st night in his new stable :)

I don't use them, they are just full of sugar.

My horse gets a salt block that swings about and he enjoys messing with it

Nope its like giving a small child a huge bag of smarties and telling them your taking them to Disney land after about 3 licks for my mare .. Avoid them like the plague!

I did think this !! But I have had to use a tool to gain his confidence !! - He is a RSPCA rescue from a gypsy site in Kent. When I took him on you could not even get near him bless :( - Now tho :) Head collar easy to catch walks to me and he is coming on lovely - But I am going to stop these licks !!!

Mine showed zero interest and the mini likit melted over her back. luckily she was wearing a rug!

I gave her a swede on the floor or a rope full of carrots, apples and swede instead and she loved that :)

My old pony used to eat it in chunks, so stopped giving them as they were gone in ten minutes. Current horse prefers apples over anything so thats her treat:)

Mine shows no interest at all in the Likits. Loves the Horselyx ones though.

Also gave him a Gold Label Fodder Bric the other night and it was demolished in the space of a few hours

Both of mine ignore them. Knobberpony likes the tub licks with molasses, and it doesn't have any effect on her,but I don't know what they'll do to our new boy,so we only have salt licks at the minute.

He got one of the uncle jimmy's licky things at xmas as a treat but don't make a habit of it as they are full of crap!

He has a salt block though which he loves :)

OK might be silly Q. ...... If I put a salt lick in - & he licks all of it will it harm him, ie To much salt !!!

One of mine totally ignores them, not one speck of interest in eating it even when offered in the hand.

My other one thinks the likit is an instrument of toture and something to be terrified of and wouldnt use the half of the stable it was in. When offered it in hand, she snorts, backs away and motorbikes round the stable like i tried to kill her. I then tried to get her used to the scary likit being around and she ended up a nervous wreck after twenty seconds of it being within ten foot of her.

I took the hint, gave it away to another owner whos horse ate in in three bites.

Now i just save my money and buy them more graze on.

Mine loves them (as do I as I eat the loose bits that are in there when you first open it :p )

He has their most challenging holder yet it still only takes him at most half an hour. He only has one in there at a time and he is quite disgusted he is only getting them about once a month since being tested positive for cushings so need to be a bit careful about possibilityof Lami- the other day he was playing with the empty holder then turning to look at me as if to say and why is this empty when it shouldn't be?

He also loves their snack ball

Mine won't eat them.

Got him a hanging salt like and he would just toss it around to attention seek (usually around tea time!)- that died when the last chunk fell off due to his temper lol

Bought him a minty lickit and he has trapped it between the water bucket and the stable wall. So it's all sludgy and gross! Haven't got around to cleaning it up yet though.

He likes them but he's not allowed them. He does however a knack of managing to track down and steal ones belonging to other people's horses occasionally.

I used to give Bertie them but he started biting them and eating them within a day! I got him one of the Uncle Jimmy ones instead and that has lasted since Christmas. He's got about 1/3 left which is much better!

Do the Uncle Jimmy licks fit in "likit" holders ?

Highland mare was given one as a gift from an admirer they were somewhat alarmed when she stood and ate it in less than 5 minutes. she was most upset when someone else gave her the salt one some time later she tried it spat it out and never went near it again.

Our horses have them occasionally for a real treat but not often, - too worried about the sugar in them. Uncle Jimmy's seed licks are well received, but again only occasionally. Ours like swedes / turnips hung up to head butt and swing about. Just get a long screw driver and ram in down the centre and hang up on some twine; a lot cheaper alternative and a healthier one too! Apples sliced in fingers are a bit of fun too thrown in the water bucket. I think if your horses likes these Likit things don't totally deprive him, just let him have them as a real treat. Bit like us with chocolate I suppose!

yes they are full of sugar but so is the bounty bar I just ate.

Once in a while it's a harmless treat.

However I was pressure sold a uncle Jimmy's licky thing and it has lasted a whole month unless I'm feeding the yard mice and samba isn't touching it.

Payday tomorrow and at £5 a time she is only getting one a month.

I use the one with the hole that fits lickit holders

Mine won't touch them - or the Horselyx. But he is very fussy, and is off sugar because of his EPSM so I can imagine it doesn't even smell like food to him... (However I will admit to having eaten a bit of Likit treat bar before - I can recommend the apple and cherry varieties :P)

:) She loves them but only gets a couple licks when she's done something very special or worked really hard. She really good though and very gentle with it and one lasts best part of a year so don't see any harm.

I avoid them too as they are just full of sugar. A friend gave him one of the likit bars as a christmas present, he gets one square after a hack - I certainly don't need him any more hyper lol they are good as an occasional treat.

I don't give him the horslyx tubs any more either because this happens...

As if it's not bad enough that his nose gets covered in it but he wipes it all down his legs as well! It's near impossible to get off!

Keep meaning to try the uncle jimmys, but I tend to make him hanging treats myself, baler twine through apples/carrots etc and hang them up for him. He's happy with that!

I give mine a likit every once in a while as a treat, the problem is they don't seem to understand the concept of the 'LIK-IT' part of having a likit and they have it chomped away in minutes! They love the thngs! I tend to give them Horslyx now as a treat and it lasts alot longer!
