Right, anyone have a 'fools manual' as to getting likits out of the side of the likit ball and replacing them without maiming yourself in the process?

I'm having a spot of bother with them!

It is pretty impossible

Try getting a knife and putting it down the edge of the likit, then easing it out with the aim of keeping all your fingers!!!

Get a 3yo Sec D then all you have to do is find the plastic holders in the bed

Failing that a pair of pliers works just as well & is a lot quicker

Says on the package they can be removed with plairs, i find once they are used that they come out if you place your fingers inside the likit, palms to the ball and pull it that way.

Likit (or whoever makes them) actually sell a mini set of long nosed pliers to remove them from the ball!
OH has a similar pair that I pinch to do it, or failing that he gets them out - have also used a hoof pick as an emergency removal tool

I had the same problem getting the Likit out of its plastic holder to hang on the string.

Took about 100 cuts with a pair of scissors, and I also managed to cut myself!

Also, ponies (probably the Shettie) ate the whole thing in a night, so there's 2 reasons never to buy one again!!!

Ditto!!! I used hoof picks and scissors before eventually settling for a knife. I left shredded bits of plastic all over the place and cut myself. TB turned his nose up and the darned thing and refused to eat it so gave it to cob, who demolished the entire thing including the holder-on-a-rope thingy!! Have never bought another one!!

Put one of the string hung ones up today, strawberry! There easy to get out if you put it on a cleanish surface and whack the bottom, it comes out quite easily. But my pony eat alot in about an hour so I took it down again and just give him it for limited period.

Fools manual:

1. Take cardboard off and throw in bin
2. take the top off, by sliding knife underneath
3. Tip crumbly bits in bin
4. Make at least 6 cuts with knife of scissors in the top of the plastic to likit level
5. try and peel with fingers, this will rip nails off and result in minor injury
6. Get knife or other instrument and stuff down the side of the likit in vain attempt to cut plastic more
7. Tip bits of likit in bin from knife stabbing
8. Start swearing wildly at anyone who asks if you need a hand and abandon all hope of pain free experience by tearing plastic off
9. Accidentially cut / stab yourself and continue swearing like a trooper
10. Finally plastic comes off leaving awkward bit at the bottom
11. Tip off more crumbs into the bin
12. Stick in holder, whilst realising there is more likit in the bin and under your nails than the horse is likely to eat
13. Look at you horse either take a massive chunk out of it or look at the likit with utter disdain
14. Get a stiff drink and vow not to buy another one... at least not until the next time its seems like a good idea in the saddlery shop!!!

Whose going to ask the Likits manufacturers to send us a video of an 'idiots guide to getting Likits out of their bl**dy packaging?' !!!!

Is there an award for the worst product packaging as I would like to nominate Likits and all Tesco Finest products. I have cut myself on Likit packaging (hello law suit) and Tesco Finest "peel-back" cellophane covers (e.g. on lasagne) always need to be cut off as they tear in to strips.

A screwdriver works very well on the little Likits but the big buggers are a nightmare. My horses only get one for Christmas and another on their birthday. I don't give the big ones to my arab at all, his little mouth fits under the plastic top/bottom and his record for breaking one in half is 18 seconds - YES THATS SECONDS, and the whole lot GONE in 2 minutes 45 seconds.

In fact come to think of it, I have 4 horses and only one licks them! They should be called Biteits!!

OK, this may be a silly question, but how does everyone deal with Likits that need to fit in Likit holders (the one on a string.)

Do you drill a hole in your Likit? Or am I being daft?

You for got 15. You horse eats it all and then is totally loopy on the sugar rush for 2 days....

They're dreadful arent they?! Ive complained before (as have numerous friends) to the Likit people but they dont care! Stupid considering I no longer buy them due to the issue of their removal from the toys and even out of their wrappers!
