Is it me, or does everyone else have terrible trouble getting the ruddy plastic outside covers off the big licks and does anyone have tips for an easy way of getting them off?

They are a nightmare, I tend to use the knife I use for carrots to get them open. But be careful I've nearly taken fingers off doing it that way

I know what you mean I had the same problem last night trying to get it off. We can send a man to the moon but can't make decent packaging for lickits.

Don't think I am going to bother with them anymore either. It took me ten minutes to get the packaging off and then my horse had eaten half of it before I'd even left the yard.

oh good it's not just me then, my horse too eats them so quickly, but he's a very bored baby on box rest so something has to keep him amused, that is other than lifting me up by my belt if I bend over to poo pick or eating the pulley bit off my zips before throwing it in the air like a ruddy trick dolphin!!!
Maybe I'll write to the manufacturers and claim damages for my broken nails AGAIN!!

I make my OH open them now, or get a sharp knife, will probably lose a finger one day!

We should all contact them and just ask them why they cant bloody put it in an easy access container!

get someone else to open them i do,
(lazy i know, but its the easyiest way)
my horse eats his over night too, so have started to alternate with swedes and apples on strings as hes bored too on box rest.

Dear All,

I understand your complaints with the Likit packaging and I promise that it is top of our list of things we are working to improve. Unfortunately the manufacturing process demands that we have fairly thick plastic surrounding the lick, otherwise it would break as the product cools and expands (just like ice). Therefore any improvements we make have to be done extremely carefully so as to not destroy the strength of the plastic.

I have found that the best way to open the packaging is to cut down either side with a pair of scissors, open the shell and then turn upside down and tap on a hard surface until the Likit falls down the pole. However, any bright ideas would be appreciated and I would be more than willing to offer up a great prize for the best suggestion. Please email me at office@likit.co.uk

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Likit Products.

Best wishes,

Thanks for the response LindsayLikit. I'm afraid I have no pearls of wisdon on how to get the damn things out of the plastic quickly and efficiently....I just resort to letting the wife do it instead

On a separate note though, have you any good tips on how to get the stuff out of the horses coat once he's gorged himself on it all night

It's most annoying when you've got to go to a show early in the morning only to find your horse with a white residue all round his face

I have one very addicted nag who currently does a large Likit in about 8 hours
