Sorry it has been a while from my initial post regarding Lily's oral lump. She had her surgery last week and amazingly she was nice and relaxed throughout her stay at the vets, they took great care when moving her under anaesthetic due to her bloat issues. They did a fantastic job and you can't even tell where the lump was. At this point the vet said he was "hopefully optimist" it was a benign lump.
However provisional results received today indicate it is a squamous cell carcinoma 😢 We are waiting for the final test but that takes 2 weeks, the initial report is 80% certain on the diagnosis. Unfortunately they are unable to remove the tumour with good clearance unless they remove some of her nose and jaw. I am just not prepared to put her through this. However chemo may be a possibility but will not cure it. The vet has said that the tumour is slow to metastasise and Lily should have quite s good length of time of good quality life.
In a very positive light Lily herself if very bright and breezy and about to celebrate her 10th birthday on Thursday. Cake in the oven as I post the message

So sorry to hear the news wasn't good, can't remember username but the horse was called Buzz I think, had something similar and they chose to treat it. Will look for thread for you...

Username was Twiglet, lots of posts about Buzz - search for her and look at her posts, may prove helpful.

Very very sorry to hear your news Satinblaze, I am quite sure Lily has had, and will continue to have, a wonderful life with you until the right time arrives xx

I was really hoping it would just be an age bump thing, but good news that she should have a happy and heatlhy life for a good while yet.

So sorry for you. Our dog, Milly, had a tumour in her ear. The vet said that he could operate but the it could end up being that her whole ear canal would be removed. We took the hard decision that this was one step too far for her. She was 10 then and we have had another 5 happy years with her where she lived life to the full. Sadly we said good bye to her 2 months ago but ironically it wasn't the tumour but something else that got her in the end.
I'm telling you our story as I want you to know that all is not lost and hopefully you will make as many special memories more as we did.
((((Hugs))))) it's a tough time. X

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. Be assured I will always look to Lily's welfare and happiness whatever course this disease takes.
I bred Lily myself and I suppose it makes me feel even more responsible for her. At the moment she is full of the joys of Spring/summer and thoroughly enjoying her life.

Only just seen this post satinbaze, so sorry the news is not good but in typical flatcoat fashion I am sure she will keep wagging that happy tail for some time yet. Wishing you as a fellow flatties owner, very best wishes.

I'm sorry to hear that, you always have to hope for the best so that's not news you ever want to hear. I know she'll continue to have a great life with you.
