Sorry it has been a while from my initial post regarding Lily's oral lump. She had her surgery last week and amazingly she was nice and relaxed throughout her stay at the vets, they took great care when moving her under anaesthetic due to her bloat issues. They did a fantastic job and you can't even tell where the lump was. At this point the vet said he was "hopefully optimist" it was a benign lump.
However provisional results received today indicate it is a squamous cell carcinoma 😢 We are waiting for the final test but that takes 2 weeks, the initial report is 80% certain on the diagnosis. Unfortunately they are unable to remove the tumour with good clearance unless they remove some of her nose and jaw. I am just not prepared to put her through this. However chemo may be a possibility but will not cure it. The vet has said that the tumour is slow to metastasise and Lily should have quite s good length of time of good quality life.
In a very positive light Lily herself if very bright and breezy and about to celebrate her 10th birthday on Thursday. Cake in the oven as I post the message
