I use one and they do help alot. Have you thought about getting point and balance straps added to your saddle to help anchor it in place too?
Top limpet pad tip: pay close attention to how they tell you to wrap them up when you wash them, I have had 3 rip in the washing machine because I hadnt tied them up in their bag tightly enough.

Thought it was fab until I used it on casting horse--full of hair in pores which seems impossible to get out
Now using pads from New equine Wear

Dodn't like it - couldn't keep it up in the gullet - kept pressing on whithers then quite promplty split and was unuseable. I thought it was expensive for what it was esp as it only lasted me a few months. Did mean to complain / take it back but never got round to it!

I had them & thought they were rubbish, pony really sweated under them, & they fell to bits in the washing machine. Now use the Cliff Barnsby grip pads which are fab!!

It may be worth having your pony's back looked at - he may have reduced muscle on one side which could be resulting in the saddle slipping (to the opposite side) and the saddle may need a balancing strap (as mentioned above) fitted to the saddle to enable it to sit straight. I've done it after years of different pads / grips etc and when the saddle fitter pointed out the muscle thing I felt really thick and also bad that the pony can't have been comfy during all that time, you live and learn eh?

I use one on Doug and find they are pretty good. Mine is not a Limpet make though as is by Rydair but it is very similar to the Limpet one..

used to use one with my wintec and it worked but caused serious sweating. they do sit down on the withers but mine didnt seem to put pressure on it as they are very soft.

my new saddler recommended instead using a thin sheet of something available from homebase that is used on boats or something, which is breathable and far cheaper.

also worth noting limpets dont work with saddle company saddles - or didnt with mine anyway due to the material of my saddle the limpet wouldnt grip to it as its not leather.

thanks for all your help and advise, im taking him to the salddlers next week, theyre going to take a look at the saddle and the pony to see if theres anything they can do to help the problem before i go and buy a pad of some kind.
