Yes I do have some, good with some horses was the answer with one hunter those back rubbed whatever we tried and one cold backed horse was much the best when we used one on him. I found you needed to wash them now and again in really dilute hibiscrub they does get sweaty under them . They dont appreciate going in the washer and I disliked the thicker ones they where just too thick.
thanks i was hoping tbh they would protect my horses back from me -as im a little onesided after back surgery, i hack in a dressage saddle and ive got a wonderful lematex which fits him well and helps my position greatly but he was an eventer before i had him and wasnt really ridden with the rider sat down on him as they always rode off his back. i just want him to be as comfortable as possible and not cause him any problems long term-think i might give them a go thanks very much .
I used one for my very round cob. It did help keep his saddle secure but they do get very sweaty. I ruined mine in the washing machine!! Followed the instructions but it still ripped. I had the thick one which would probably suit your horse.
They were on dragons den but didn't get an investment!!!
I used to have one.. they do get rather crusty when sweaty, the sides eventually disintegrated (they were always disappearing backwards anyway!) so I cut it up and used it as a half pad for a bit. I'm not sure how well it worked as that as definitely squisher than a prolite etc.
If you put them in the washing machine turn off the spin cycle, this is what rips them. I think limpets are great, very non slip, soaks up sweat, thin ones good for saddles that fit, thick ones good for narrowing a too wide saddle. I like that you can cut them to fit your saddle shape.
I had one put pony ate it lol. Can I suggest you go to wilkos or similar type shop and buy some anti slip mat for under rugs. It's about £4 you can cut this to shape, I use it double thickness and it works a treat, it's breathable so great in this weather much better than my half eaten expensive limpet pad
I really rate them. I have one and saddle never moves with it in and I like the fact that they imprint the saddle so if you take it off carefully you can see if the saddle sat wonky. I've only had mine a month so can't comment of how long they last!
My saddler recommended them to me when I first had the pony and he put on a lot of weight the first summer and his saddle was shooting forward when we jumped. He said to get a string girth as well (expensive German make, can't remember its name) and the two worked well together to sort the problem. Have not had to use it since though much at all as not let him put that amount of weight back on. So for that purpose of keeping the saddle in place the limpet pad was great. Not easy to clean so I didn't
