I've had a telling off from Admin for putting a link to my Virtual Dressage website in my signature. (If you're interested it's in my profile).

I know the rules, fair do's.

However, I have just spent the last hour clicking on the websites in people's signatures. Links to yards, their own personal eventing websites, links to for sale adverts, all sorts.

So how are they allowed and mine not? The eventing websites all have links to either horses they are selling or how to sponser that said rider, so surely that's commercially positive for the person just like mine was?

I agree to the rules, fine, but it shouldn't be one rule for one and another for others.

Maybe someone reported it.

I agree with you point, even if you shouldn't of had the link, yes they are loads of links in peoples sigs, however the ones that don't come on here much probably don't get noticed by admin or reported.

As an early offender (I mean, reading terms & conditions is like reading an instruction manual, I just don't do it!) I'd like to know too - as OP says are personal websites permissable? What is it that means the linked site oversteps the mark? Some of the personal sites are very well made & interesting to read (personal journeys of how & why they are doing what they have a passion for) but clarification would be useful to avoid the "them & us" that otherwise seems to exist.

I posted something similar a while back as I kept seeing links to various websites in signatures so I thought the rules had changed but obviously not. Personally I don't see a problem putting a link in your signature, unless its an actual business.
