How much per day in g/Kg can you feed for weight gain?
I never go above 500 grammes per day spilt into at least two meals.
I start at fifty grammes once a day for two days then up too 100 grammes and so on .
Its very high in oil and protein so it can give horses the runs and needs to be approached with care if the horse has ever had azoturia however I feed it with great sucess to our 'azoturia' horse.
It's a great food for horses .
So no more that 500g a day?
I expect you're not getting any solid answers as there's no real data on safe levels. I've heard that you can feed up to 100g per 100kg of bodyweight, so for a 490kg horse about 500g would be the upper limit. I would not feed more than this, but currently feed at that rate for my TB, with no apparant ill effects.
Okay thanks for that, so I guess its safe to feed 500g?
Bit off track but where's best place to buy from, I've heard of Charnwood milling but can't seem to find an option to buy online? Should normal feed merchants stock too?
How much did everyone start on though, does everyone just go by mugs and not weigh?
