linseed - whole or micronised?

Micronised. Much easier.

I go through a few bags of the charnwood stuff in a winter, cooking that much would be a chore.

Depends on whether you want the faff of cooking the stuff.
I always have (overnight and use the next morning) as my lot always seem to appreciate something warm on cold mornings.
That said some horses detest the jellylike stuff and will only eat the micronised stuff/lozenges.

You can feed it raw, either whole or freshly ground in a coffee grinder, its not dangerous and will not cause cyanide poisoning as used to be thought. There's lots of info on feeding it raw if you google it. I get mine from a bird food store, its really cheap and I grind it just before feeding, it doesn't keep once ground so you really need to do it fresh each day.

Im in Glasgow and got a 20kg sack of micronised linseed from charnwood delivered to the house. Altogether I think it was
about £32 inc delivery. I keep mine in a feed bin with a measuring mug and the whole thing is really easy!
