Can someone tell me the difference between linseed; micronised, straight cooked, lozenges, oil.

I feed a handful of linseed lozenges and a gulp of sunflower oil in my feeds, I don't need it for weight gain just for condition.

Just looking at the different types - do they not all do the same?

Can anyone recommend. :)

micronised is best - linseed lozenges are the crap left after the oil is taken - then usually added to mollasses to stick together - straight linseed needs cooking - its a pain

micronised is the way to go

So the oil is better than the lozenges.
Micronised is the way forward.
And it's easier to buy it and don't bother cooking it.

How much do you feed?

I know Simple Systems sell it.

Would you cut out the oil and linseed lozenges and just use the micronised.

yes just feed the micronised - oil too messy - lozenges just full of rubbish.
However order off charnwood milling - will save you money on simple systems!!!!! - they deliver too!

I feed a mug a day (guess about 150-200g) to my 7/8th TB - if you email or ring charnwood they can actually help you on the phone as to how much to feed - the micronised is easier to digest and can feed 500g plus a day if you need to.

It will give your horse a mega shine, good for guts as mucus forming on gut to stop ulcers, and has anti inflammatory properties and in my opinion linseed is fab

Thanks will order it up - will also call. It's for my yearling - his showing this year, and although I want his condition great I also want his gut looked after.

Definately dont cook your own. I tried it, turned my back and it boiled over. The most disgusting strings of slime hanging off my cooker, think of the slime toy they used to sell for kids. Took ages to clean it all up.

I've just started feeding linseed in a mix called herbal total from herbal horse supplies, which is a great supplement but think that they also sell it separate.
The website is well worth looking at and they are very helpful with any questions.
