Rudy curls his lip, like he is snarling. The front part of his lips touch, its just the sides that he curls, and it shows off his ugly teeth

His teeth are all okay, had them checked.
Could this be indiciative of tension somewhere? Stress? Or just habit?

Any ideas welcome.

My boy does this. He sort of curls his lip to get a really good grind on his teeth. Only does it at shows. He does not feel tense in any other way, just looks horrid. I think he is bored!

He does grind his teeth though when he is excited, tense, nervous or bored!

I've known a horse who did this a lot, seemed to be just a daft habit, she sucked her tongue a lot too .Looked very funny.

He isn't trying to cough or make a choking/sneezing sound when he does it is he?And his lips/mouth aren't sore from his bit or from eating buttercups/sunburn etc?Check for lumps/bumps all around his head/face/neck, am sure you already have, and his teeth are fine so maybe he just has a rubber face lol

LOL he does have incredibly rubbery chops!

He does it when he is tense, he does it when he is seemingly relaxed. He doesn't grind his teeth but his a crib biter. Will double check his bit etc when I tack him up next.

Please excuse my horrendous riding. There are a few there that illustrate this problem, but the last ones show it a bit closer up.

Is probably just a habit, I wouldn't worry about it

We have a mare in during the season who blows raspberries for no reason (very funny!) and our teaser stallion sucks his tongue everytime he goes out to the field
