Lip sarcoid- lasered?

My 6 yr old gelding has a pea-sized sarcoid on his lip.

It’s on the crease of the lip just where the bit goes. It’s on skin, not on the inner mucous membrane. It’s smooth and beneath the dermis.

My vet had a Quick look last visit (was there for something else!) and said it can be lasered off, albeit it will not be a nice area to heal.

Just wondered has anyone else had experience of a sarcoid on a lip, and what treatment you chose if any?

He was going to be for sale, but I imagine this will put his value on the floor!

Any advice welcomed, thank you x

My horse had a lump come up on his lip but not in a place which affects the bit or his eating. After a lot of consideration by a number of vets which ranged from sarcoid (he has other sarcoids) to strange tropical parasite to a benign tumour, the decision was the later and he had a needle stuck in it and drained off. It is still there to some extent and seems to get larger then shrink of its own accord. Now I now that is no answer to what you asked at all but they did discuss at one point taking it off and decision was as not affecting him to leave it. Having had his sarcoids done elsewhere it looks horrendous when done but healed amazingly. Hopefully you will get some more helpful feedback from someone who has actual experience of a lip sarcoid

I've had one that had sarcoids lasered off from the stifle area and that left quite a large wound for the size of the sarcoid. The healing took months, I think in part due to the skin being moved around a lot in that area.
I can imagine on the lip, which is about the most mobile area you can get, the healing would be a lengthy process. It would also be a difficult area to keep clean I'd imagine?
I'd also be inclined to get an opinion from a vet with lots of experience with sarcoids/laser surgery.

Prof K heads a company which gives diagnosis, advice and treatment options on sarcoids. Your vet send pics in and gets sent a report back. I’ve been down that route, it wasn’t expensive to get the report, and you know that it comes from a very reputable specialist who is up to date with sarcoids.
