My horse is probably going to be referred for kissing spine surgery but I am not sure which vets are best for the operation (I have the choice of where to send him as his vets don't complete this type of surgery).
What are peoples experiences with these practices and which one do they recommend?

Thank you! :)

Liphook seems to be the place for major surgery around here. I use Endells as my 'serious' practice. I have no complaints with them but haven't ever put mine through surgery.

Not had kissing spine surgery performed so can't advise, (I would go for the best surgeon) but I have had bad 'after care' experience at Liphook, I will never be returning there. Friend had also substandard care there, and being billed for procedures that weren't done eg heart bar shoes on discharge, came home with no shoes !

Liphook are my vets, I've no experience of kissing spine surgery but my horse has had colic surgery there twice (10 years apart) and I haven't had any problems with aftercare. They are only 15/20 minutes away so unless I had a major problem with them I can't see that I would change vets. I think I would be swayed by which one was closest to me unless you hear something to make you think different. I had a few problems once my horse was home after the second surgery (swelling/minor bout of colic) and someone was out to me very promptly.

I also had bad aftercare and nursing and would never return to Liphook.

I had some problems with Liphook too although actual surgery went ok. Colic not KS. Just to be more complicating is surgery definitely required? I’d always worry that rehab so difficult afterwards when so much muscle has been cut. No chance to rehab without surgery?
