My friend has recently bought a lipizzaner and he has huge brandings on his side. One side is 55 probably his number in the stud's records and a 99 on the other side so assume that is his his year of birth. But above the 99 is what looks like a massive pair of antlers(12-14inches high) with an L in the middle. Anyone know what they should have and what this might mean?? I have looked on the net but no strong information relating to his particular brands so a little confused as to what they actually mean. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

There is a Uk Lipizzaner society in the UK which may be able to help, otherwise the other option is to contact the stud in Piber.

Could the L in the centre of the antlers possibly be a B? Have done some research, and an L brand appears only on the cheek of the horse, not on the saddle area (offside). L stands for the stud at Lipica, and B is used to identify the stud at Szilvasvarad in Hungary. The numbers relate to the sire and the dam of the branded horse..... Does this help?
