Just read this in todays paper...
No pic in in the web article, but the pic used in the actual paper shows them to be nothing more than skin and bone.
Why are people so selfish and cruel?
I don't think it's as simple as being selfish and cruel. Wars create all sorts of problems beyond the fighting and I doubt very much that horses are very high on the list of priorities. It is of course very sad to hear of horses suffering in any way, especially when one lives ina country where animal protection and care is taken so seriously. I wonder if any animal aid organisations are taking an interest? The article doesn't say.
as PF says - its not to do with peoples cruelty, its to do with conflict creating an dangerous enviroment where people have to flee or can no longer live - when lives are at stake horses take 2nd place
then you end up with people having to look after animals unwillingly - unpaid and problems start.
its basically dumping animals with people who dont have the means or inclination to provide the care.
as a point of intrest though the story was big news about 4 years ago when the horses were originally moved - one of the animal protection agencies co-ordinated the move - they just never followed up with it.
