Looking at the map and these are off the top of my head:

Definately affected:

Munstead
Stilemans
Merrist Wood
Shamley Green/TTT base

Possibly - all are within 30mins to an hour of Guildford (depending on what happens):

Twesledown
Mattingley
Coombelands
Iping
Sparsholt
Wellington

Anyone think of anymore?
 
I wonder about the Area Festival at Ardingly and the Regionals at Oldencraig next week.

Neither are actually in the zone but are fairly close with horses coming from all over the place.
 
We were supposed to be taking my nieces to Royal Leisure today but have decided not to - although when my sister rang the venue, they new nothing about F&M and got a bit snotty!!

Its typical, I don't compete that regularly but have planned and paid entries for a competition every week for the next two months, although reasonably local to Guildford (Sands/Hickstead in particular).

Just hope they get it under control very quickly. Whilst the ban on movement doesn't affect horses at the moment, I feel very strongly that those of us in the area should all try to help by staying at home. I don't think I can justify carrying on with something for my pleasure, when its people's livelihoods that are at stake.
 
just rang cranleigh show that is still going ahead but without cattle, pigs, sheep. i think it is stupid if we had a 2-4 week lock down this would help eradicate the problem. i for one will tell my liveries no movement as we are about 20miles away. we have cattle here as well.
 
Oldencraig,apparently, are determined to go ahead with the Regionals but the organiser of the Area Festival at Ardingly doesn't know yet. She is having trouble getting hold of DEFRA, or anyone else at the moment, for advice.

Of course as it's a weekend there's no-one at BD or the South of England showground!!
 
i dont see why horse shows should stop...
especially if you do not stop people walking in the country...!

our local equestrian centre closed down last time to help the farmers only to be paid back by every farm in the district setting up livery yards .

That is a good point. My horse is on an arable farm and I don't want to stop taking my horse out to competitions especially when we are not near any livestock.

I do feel very sorry for the farmers as many have not yet recovered from 2001 but if deer are running wild and you can walk in the countryside then horses should still be able to be moved unless they are on a farm with livestock

Does the national movement ban affect the movement of horses?
No. Horses are not affected by the national movement ban

Are there any restrictions on horses?
Yes.

Horses can only be moved in or out of the 3km protection zone under licence;

Horses cannot be moved from premises to premises within the 3km protection zone when there are susceptible animals on the same premises, except under licence; and

Vehicles designed for the transport of animals, including horse boxes, where susceptible animals are kept, cannot be moved from premises within the 3km protection zone except under licence.
 
Having not seen any news for about 48h I was wondering why they were disinfecting horseboxes as I turned up at Sparsholt today
