My faithful Lister Stablemates died this week, just cut out with no warning, and whilst I hope it is a simple electrical repair, it may not be worth having them done as they are now 18 years old.

Has anyone used the Lister Star or Lister Legend clippers as these are the two I am considering as alternatives, as I love my Stablemates.

Although I only clip about 4 horses/ponies a year, my two are rather large with a lot of hair that does take some work to get off (traditional cob and clydesdale) so I need something that will take on their thick and tough coats. They don't have to be very light or quiet, just tough.

I have lister neon ones (dunno if they still make them) they are very hardy & can also be used for shearing sheep so can cope with the thickest of coats.

Good luck in your quest (ps you have tried the reset button (if they have one) mine is down where the cable goes in)

We have the Lister Legend and they are great to use. Seem to be much tougher than the Neon (now the Star) although they are also good clippers.

I have just got some Lister Stars, but as they are the first pair I've ever got I don't know how tough they are. I only have 1 horse so aren't going to get used a huge amount, but were £240 with a bag, oil and pair of Legato clippers included (usually £65).
They have done a good job so far though!
