Good morning. I have a set of the above clippers bought in March 2019 for just under £350 new. They have been used six times in total. I put them on to charge on Saturday and the light on the plug stays orange, which according to the plug is standby.

They were left on charge for 14 hours and the light firmly stayed orange. They are not charging.

I emailed Lister who asked what battery I have. It’s the old style battery. They then said I need to charge and discharge the battery three times. If that doesn’t work buy a new one. I don’t believe they actually read the email.
However, I cannot charge and discharge a battery when it won’t charge in the first place. Nor do I want to have to buy a new battery for £192 which is their cost. I may as well just buy new clippers that are not Lister!

There is very little information in the provided booklet or on the website in troubleshooting the batteries. A friend suggested I post here as you are all fonts of great knowledge and may have come across this issue before.

So does anyone know why the light on the plug is orange please and is there a way to fix it? Thank you.

I can't help sorry however there are repair places that might be able to change the internal batteries in the pack and therefore enable charging. The battery pack is supposed to be stored flat then recharged before using I think (or charged fully, I can't remember but it is in the Lister leaflet)

HOWEVER.....I bought the new Lister Liberty Lithium charge pack (you'll need an adapter as well for your clippers as it's a different fitting) and the charge lasts 4+hours and only takes a couple to charge up. The Lithium batteries have a lot more longevity and reliability - I'm guessing that's why they bought them out. Tbh I wouldn't buy a new, old-style battery as they're not a patch on the Lithium ones:

You can buy just the battery/charger/adapter but the whole shebang is £191
