Anyone got experience of either? My clippers unhelpfully blew up, so on hunt for some newbies. Want something thats quiet, and have used Heiniger cordless and liked them, but found the stablemates at a ridiculously cheap price... was just wandering what peoples opinions were on either....

How much are the stablemates, I have Premier 3000 and hate them, love my old Lister Lasers though. Did consider the Heiniger but was told the Premier were better?! What sort were the old ones, are the blades you already have suitable for the ones you are looking at? If not be aware of the hidden cost of having to buy new blades.

I believe I saw them on one site for £120 + Vat. My instructor has recommended them for me as I would only be clipping one horse maybe twice a year. She seems to like them!

£120+ Vat. The old ones are clip on crappy blades, am going to get them fixed, but sell them as don't trust them!! Heinigers come with two sets of blades for £175+vat. Have used Wolsely which I find noisy and heavy, and the Lister Neons which were fine, but for somne reason G hated with a passion.... Arent the Stablemates just the same as the Lasers, maybe slightly lower powered?

I would go for Lister definitely. My old Lister Clippers lasted me 10 years, and my new Lister clippers are working a treat this winter. I use them to clip the whole horse, including head and legs etc as they are quiet and lightweight. My horse looked so good this year I am now clipping all the hairy ponies on my yard!

I had a set of Stablemates for years - I think they were about 10 years old when I have them to a friend!! I only had 2 horses and they were fine. Not heavy duty clippers so really for the 1 or 2 horse owner. Parts were easy to get as well.

I bought my Stablemates back in 1992 and they are still going strong.

I have had them serviced by Lister twice as I don't clip that many horses and still have the original blades - they still come back nice and sharp and the bloke who does them said they are still fine to resharpen.

They are a bit heavy and noisy but take on Cairo's who is not only a very big horse, but has a coat like wire wool with no problem, I do have to swop blades every 5 - 8 mins to let them cool on Cairo but on a TB could do a blanket without stopping. I tend to clip out three/four horses at a time mainly blanket or chasers and they cope fine. Also great for manes and heavy horse legs should you wish to comit the sin of removing all that beautiful hair.

I shall keep mine until they cannot be repaired.

I too am a StableMate fan! I have only had two pairs in 23 years! They are great little clippers, I get mine serviced regularly and ' touch wood' have not had any bother

have had both and can honestly say my heiniger ones are miles better!I havn't had any probs with my heiniger ones but my stablemates were always needing servicing and made clipping a real chore!

I have had my stablemates about 14 years, still with the original blades, they do about 8 clips every winter and 2 late full clips on driving cobs that have the thickest, longest hair you could possible imagine. Never had any problems with them. For £120 that is a bargain, think mine were £220 all those years ago.
