This is also in the vet section.

Well in the middle of the week my horse got kicked in the field on her hind leg. It was grazed and there was a little blood but it was massively swollen. She isnt lame on it. I have been cold hosing it 2 time a day and she turned out during the day. Its bandaged at night to help control the swelling and she gets a bute a day.

The swelling has gone down a bit but its still noticeable. Would you keep on doing as I'm doing or would you ask the vet for advice?

Just keep an eye out for any infection. My horse had similar incident and was going on ok then suddenly went very stiff and lame and she had got an infection in the very small graze that she had received. The vet gave her antibiotics and ab powders and it cleared up and she was fine but you need to watch out for any sudden swelling or changes like her going stiff or lame.

I gave mine arnica tablets and put witchazel on the bruised area but its infection that causes the problems

As before - watch out for the slightest infection - make sure the wound is REALLY clean and -if it was me - get the vet out if it doesn't improve. Cold hosing is really good - it's the infection that causes the problems.

Have decided that I'll contact the vet for a little advice just to be on the safe side.
After my last horse who seemed to be ill more times than he was fit I'm sure the vet is fed up with me haha.
Least that way he can make his mind up whats the best thing to do in the situation. I feel stupid as it seems like something simple and easy to heal but after my last horse I'm worrying. Because its a simple injury I have no idea how to tackle things as my previous horse has major illness after major illness and I knew how to tackle them. haha.
