This is also in the NL.

Well in the middle of the week my horse got kicked in the field on her hind leg. It was grazed and there was a little blood but it was massively swollen. She isnt lame on it. I have been cold hosing it 2 time a day and she turned out during the day. Its bandaged at night to help control the swelling and she gets a bute a day.

The swelling has gone down a bit but its still noticeable. Would you keep on doing as I'm doing or would you ask the vet for advice?

I would continue as you are for now, if its still swollen after turn out tomorrow call the vet for advce. It might be that she'll need some antibiotics to reduce the swelling. If you have had a visit from your vet in the last 6mths they might be happy enough to just dispense some for you.

even though you have been hosing, it could be infected and may need antibiotics. the swelling could be just the bruising coming out but if it was me i would get the vet to have a look for peace of mind.

I find that a swelling like that can take many weeks to go down completely so it's probably fine, but best to check with the vet to stop you worrying!
