HEy! just wondering if anyone had any schooling tips.... My ex-racer seems to have "issues" in the right rein... He is workin fantasticly on th left bt on the right becomes a motorbike. I know horses can be one sided but he takes it to the extreme, he become very unbalanced... ive been wokring with him for over a year now..mayeb im doing th wrong thing with him? hes sound vet wise passed a 5 stage etc....

any tips for gettin him tht bit more supple?? xx

First things first would be to check saddle fit and get an instructor to check that you are level yourself, any wonkyness on your part will create/exacerbate the problem. Once any tack/teeth etc issues have been checked then simply work for a few extra minutes on the right rein for each schooling session, using plenty of suppling exercises (circles, serpentines, leg yielding etc.) It takes time but it is possible to even them out.

same as touch stone, plus trot nice and slow, this will allow him to find his balance eventually, keep calm, keep your hands soft, teach your horse shoulder in, no its not difficult its very very easy, if you are gentle and patient and be content with a few steps to start, no force, lead him in to with your body position, use your weight aids, it is the finest way of gently suppling the whole horse, in walk is fine, later in trot, but relax and take slowly

you will find in about 2 months he will be able to go along a whole side in walk this will go a very long way to ending his probs re suppleness and you will have advanced his schooling in a very gentle way
