Right so my boy has been stabled for a few weeks now after being turned away for winter he will be 5 in may. Such a sweetie however... He has always been food orientated as well as liking to be in your personal space. The stable he is in is a a sort of communal spot in our barn and because he is sweet ppl like to stand by his door often allowing behaviour I would label as "mugging"be there sweets involved or not! I would like to state hand on heart stick a needle in my eye and hope to die... I never feed him from hand and DO NOT STAND FOR MUGGING! He also isn't my first youngster he is however my first cobx and it seems we are having a break down in communication over this I have tried telling him off, tying him up putting haynet at back of stable but nout is working!!! Any ideas? And prob should add I have had quiet word with ppl near us to say no feeding and have put up a sign! Thanking you! :)

What exactly is the problem? He's in your personal space? Just make him back off every time you open the door and don't let him shove his head into you, if he tries give him a swift elbow. Unfortunately you can't really control what other people do, I'd put a note on his door, but it'll probably be ignored if its anything like my yard.

Having said that I feed mine carrots and treats by hand and they are both incredibly well mannered. Would never "mug" me.

He's learnt that if he persists in wheedling he gets treats and attention. In my experience cobs are good at this. He obviously has most people on your yard quite well trained.

I think you may need to change boxes to get him out of the habit. It's difficult to persuade people to change their behaviour. Alternatively, if you catch someone feeding him treats despite your notice, YOU could bite them instead?
