We went to walk the XC course today so I think Islay must have had an allergic reaction to something in the long grass (or perhaps midge bites

) as her stomach/rib cage is now covered in horrid red blotches

They look like blood stains but are not... dont seem to be itchy or bothering her at all...I was concerned that she seemed lethargic tonight but I have just gone to the doggie treat cupboard and she and Flick both instantly appeared enthusiastically

So I think she must just be tired after her afternoon exertions

I shall continue to monitor them I suppose, I dont even think I shall put any cream on them as they are not affecting her, hopefully they will be gone by morning

Sounds like midges to me! Our old lab once had red blotches on his tummy after a holiday in Scotland. He came out in red blotches when we walked through the long grass - and so did we! Damned midges.

My jack russell is allergic to grass seeds and gets his belly like this when walking in grass. The vet gave us some medicated shampoo which we have to bath him in once a week during the warmer months.

Oh thanks Nicki that is a huge relief to know thats what it could be

I took the dogs to the yard after walking the XC course and we sat in the field whilst Bob ate his tea, the midges were flipping awful!

Poor little Islay, obviously she tastes nicer than Flick who hasnt got a single one! (or perhaps Flick was too busy zipping around like a mad thing for them to catch her

Oh might be this then

I think I probably have some Malaseb still so I will use this if the blotches havent gone away (or at least faded) by tomorow evening

Just odd she is not itchy or anything
